The BEATLES ON VINYL — DONE RIGHT!
For Americans in the full grip of Beatlemania, this was the first album they could buy. With The Beatles (sold as Meet The Beatles! in the U.S.) was the Fab Four's second British record. With the Beatles produced the singles "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "I Saw Her Standing There." John Lennon and Paul McCartney were on a songwriting roll that would be unmatched in rock history, and at this point they were still a real team. They wrote "I Want to Hold Your Hand" together on a piano in the basement of Jane Asher, McCartney's actress girlfriend — as Lennon put it, "eyeball to eyeball." Like no other digital or analog edition, this LP pressing showcases how far the Fab Four really were beyond any of their peers.
Quality says "The cover reflects a slightly more sophisticated record than the band's first opus, although stand and deliver rockers are evident, particularly Lennon's "Money" which had been given their first proper stereo mix, and sounds sensational. The recording too is a little warmer.
